Abbott & Costello - still a team!

(Above) Here are the boys in their new home

The twins have been adopted and its great they can stay together. These boys were identical, except for their personalities. Abbott is super sweet and his brother the playful one ( he's also fascinated by the betta fish in the cat room aquarium.) We're sure they will be loads of love and fun in the years to come.

Alice featured on Cat Channel.Com

There is a wonderful article on Alice at

Jewel is doing great!

Jewel was surrendered when her owner moved out of state, and she just seemed to give up. She would not eat and no matter what the staff tried to tempt her with, she refused. This quiet little female started losing weight and became withdrawn. But a "Happy Tail" was in the works when she was adopted and soon started to blossom. She started eating again, and now has gained 2 LBS.
Jewel and her new best friends all look pretty content - and loved.

Spencer Adopted - Pick of the Litter 4/22/08

Spencer arrived at our shelter Thurs the 17th, appeared on TV yesterday on "Pick of the Litter" - and has already found a home.

All of our best wishes go to this super sweet boy with the tiny halo on his head.

Kayla and Marvin in American Girl magazine

Kayla E. Levasseur (National Humane Society - Kind Kid of the Year 2007) has been featured in the new issue of American Girl Magazine for her efforts on behalf of Rhode Island animals. Seen in the photo with Marvin, she spoke about her volunteer work at the RISPCA and meeting the Governor for Spay Neuter Day.
And it runs in the family -
sister Megan Levasseur was RI SPCA Kid of the Year - 2007. Congrats to Kayla and Megan!

Nina - a special case who needs a home

Nina is a 6 yr old spayed female who is a super sweet girl. However, she is shy and does not thrive in a shelter environment. A staff member is taking care of her in her home, but she cannot keep her there indefinately. She has made up a wonderful photo album with lots of photos of her at home. Although it takes a while for Nina to warm up, once she does be prepared for lots of snuggling! She needs a quiet home with no children or other pets.

Daisy, Maggie, Peyton - Adoption Update

Our "golden girls" have all been adopted!
Daisy, Maggie, and Peyton have all found homes, and we are so thankful.
Sunday was the kickoff to "Paw"Traits 2008, and all of these ladies were featured in the art exhibit's photography.

Peyton's beautiful photograph was sold to a gentleman yesterday who actually came back and adopted her today. See the photo gallery of the opening reception here.

Daisy was featured on "Pick of the Litter" March 4th and has been a beloved "ambassador" to new arrivals in our cat room. She was welcoming to all of the other cats and we miss her already.
But we have already heard that she has settled into her new home and jumped right up on the bed!

Maggie was also featured on April 8th and after recovering from a broken pelvis she certainly deserves a loving home.

Luna adopted after 5 months in shelter

Luna goes home!

Sitting on her fave toy.....

and being petted by her new best friend.

This beautiful black and white female was brought to our shelter when her owner had to go into a nursing home. It took 5 long months but she has found a new home.

Our thanks to the lady who read her story in "Paws and Claws" in the East Bay Newspapers and adopted her. A big pat on the back goes to the folks who have featured Luna, and also Stanley and Stella, the bloodhounds.
