Kaiser the Conure's Adoption Update Photos
Kristen adopted Kaiser the Green Cheek Conure last fall, and brought her friend by for a visit.
How many birds have you seen wearing a leash?
Isn't this a beautiful bird? Looks like a mini rainbow.
Marvin did not want to get too close to Kaiser, though.

Luna AKA Lucy's 1 Year Adoption Update
Hi
Just thought you'd like to know how Luna (aka Lucy) is doing after a year. We LOVE her!
She goes out alot but never strays too far from the front porch--she's a real homey. When she in, she's either sleeping on someone's lap or stretched out--upside down--on my bed. Oh, and she loves catching mice--she shows them off to us and tries to bring them inside--Lovely.
Hope you enjoy the pictures I've attached. I think she's happy.
Sheila
PS: We bought some ice cream for her for her birthday!!

"2 Legs for 4 Legs" Walk Across RI - May 16
“2-Legs For 4-Legs” Walk Across Rhode Island
May 16, 2009
Deidre Sharp, founder and President of Horse Play Equine Rescue and Sanctuary in Saunderstown, RI, will walk across Rhode Island (from the RISPCA in East Providence to Horse Play in Saunderstown) to raise awareness and funds for Horse Play.
A portion of the funds will also be donated to the RISPCA.
Every 5 minutes an American horse is slaughtered in Canada or Mexico, the fate of many horses sold at auction. With the current economic crisis, many people are forced to give up their horses and many of those horses end up at slaughter.
Horse Play provides a safe haven for such horses, but our facility is full and we are also facing the same economic crunch. We are forced to put horses on our “waiting list” but how long can they wait? We receive at least 3-4 calls a week and 5-6 emails from people needing help.
Horse Play is including the RISPCA in this endeavour as they have a fund – the Marvin Fund – which assists owners in difficult situations and helps them to keep their beloved pets – horses included.
Horse Play can only help so many, the RISPCA can help more. Please consider sponsoring Deidre on this walk (approx 35 miles) on Saturday May 16!!
There will be prizes for the top 3 raising the most funds. Any amount will be appreciated and it’s tax-deductible.
Contact Horse Play for more info or a Sponsor form (401)294-3565 or
you can just mail a check to: Horse Play, 143 Gilbert Stuart Road, Saunderstown, RI 02874.
You can also use a credit card - we have a donation page at Firstgiving.com: www.firstgiving.com/horseplayri or if you prefer, use Paypal.
Our Paypal account is horseplayri@msn.com - just make a note that it’s a donation towards the 2-Legs for 4-Legs, Walk Across RI
Peace all ways,
Deidre Sharp

Skippette's Adoption Update
Skippette is doing just great and loved by all her animal friends in our household, which consists of 3 cats and 2 dogs. She did have some issues in the beginning, but those have disappeared with patience and lots of rewards she has overcome and excelled.
We cannot say how much joy she has brought to our home.
Skippette is a sweetheart. I do have some physical limitatations so adopting older dogs will be my mission. Thank you again for SKIPPETTE ( adopted Feb. 2009.)

Mugsy's Adoption Update
Hi, I adopted Mugsy today, I just thought I'd give you a quick update... we got home, I opened the carrier, he strolled around, meowing.... found the bed and somehow managed to find a spot under there to hide. He snuck out once for a few seconds, but went right back. I left a bit of food where he would have to come out, but could scoot back if he felt the need. Within an hour after that he ventured out to check out the other rooms, used the litter box, ate and drank from the other dishes i had set where he will eat daily, played with a ball, a mouse , and has stretched out in a couple of different places. He even let me scirtch (scratch) his head a little, ... and as a matter of fact just this minute he let me pick him up and snuggle..... and he purrs..... I am thrilled that he has just allowed himself to open up so quickly... I think he was really looking for some love-- not that you all dont do a fabulous job- but, i think you know what i mean. I know it's still way early in this process, but I had to let you know. Will keep you posted, Sue
