Joseph and Mary Adopted - Pick of the Litter
Nikki - Adoption Update
Morning all!!!!!
Nikki (the Akita) has adapted quite well to her new surroundings…and my routine. We go for walks in the neighborhood 4 times a day..and she’s making many new human friends. Never a growl or snip from her toward anyone. She does NOT like the stairs at the back of my house/apartment….she’s already figured out that I have to come out and walk her around to the front of the house. She also won’t attempt the stairs inside just yet. BUT…..she cries when I’m not in sight.
Getting home from work was a joy yesterday…..she was bouncing and wiggling all over.
I’ll try to get you some pictures this weekend.
Thank you again!!!!!!!!

Nikki finds her forever home - Pick of the Litter July '08
Nikki the Akita's long search for a home came to a happy conclusion yesterday. This senior girl was first surrendered last year in March, and she stayed with us for months. Featured on Pick of the Litter July 1st, she was adopted in August. Our staff was thrilled that "our Nikki" was finally going home.
But wait.......now she was coming back after only 6 months because the owner said he was moving.
Everyone commented that she looked very depressed in her kennel and had even put on weight.
Lo and behold, her second time around turned out to be a short stay. She was adopted yesterday and as soon as she went outside with her new owner, her tail came up and she had a spring in her step. All of the staff and volunteers send Nikki and her new best friend our best wishes.

Bonnie Sunshine Goes Home After 5 Months
This is what Cathy's profile of Bonnie said on Petfinder:
"Bonnie needs a home. Poor Bonnie has been at the shelter since August 2nd. She was brought to us because the family she was living with had a house in foreclosure. She did not take to the shelter for a few weeks. She was miserable, hissy, and not a very nice cat. Well, 5 months have passed, and I love this cat. I respect her for who she is, and I don't push her to do anything she does not want to do.
Bonnie is a 5 - 7 year old, spayed, beautiful medium length calico. She DOES NOT LIKE other cats. She should be in a quiet home with no children and no other pets. She would probably do best with someone who has experience with cats and can read their signals.
Bonnie loves it when I pet her and she is always trying to get my attention. Whenever I walk by, she expects me to open her cage and pet her for a while (which I do quite often). I would imagine that once Bonnie adjusts to a new home, she will be a snuggly lap cat. She just needs time and patience. Bonnie needs that right person to come along and take a chance on her."
Today was her day!
And our staff is elated!!!

Home Foreclosures Affects Pets - Pick of the Litter
By Combs 4/29/08 Tribune Media Services
George is a 13 year old Lab who thinks he's still a kid. He has lots of energy and no health problems at all.
We have had many cats and dogs surrendered due to the home foreclosure crisis, and this week's Pick of the Litter is one of them.
George is a 13 year old Lab who thinks he's still a kid. He has lots of energy and no health problems at all.
He just doesn't have a home anymore because of foreclosure. His owner didn't want to have to surrender George, but didn't have any choice.
We want this boy to live out his golden years in a loving home.

Come to our first meeting of 2009 and join us for our annual member appreciation night on January 21st, 2009. We'll be handing out the end of the year awards and catering will be done by Jimmy Chang's restaurant (Hunan Kitchen - 799 South Main St. Bellingham, MA)! So whether you are a new member (or looking to join) or someone who has been with the club for years, come on down for good food, good friends and as always lots of conversations about fish!
Please be aware that the meeting will be held at the Hampton Inn in Seekonk MA and NOT at our normal spot at the RISPCA.
Birthday Donation
Monty and Maximus
In honor of Monty & Maximus birthday, Kimberly and Shawn asked their friends to donate to the RISPCA instead of bringing gifts. Their friends brought cat and dog food for our animals.
Thank you for your generosity!
